water project in Cobadin

- This visit to this small-scale water purification plant in Cobadin is one of the most fascinating elements in my schedule here in Romania. This is where it all needs to happen. Not in an office, not in a conference hall or behind a desk. No, it needs to happen here in actual practice, close to the people we are working for.
- I am very pleased to see that Partners for Water, a joint programme implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Public Works in concert with four other Ministries, is able to offer such good solutions to the local population.
- Early in January, during my trip to Indonesia, I also visited some interesting projects operated by Partners for Water. For me it is quite enlightening to watch here, within the borders of the EU, how Dutch know-how and skills can be put into practice in co-operation with other countries.
- I am impressed with what I have seen here in Cobadin. This project is a fine example of innovative and sustainable Dutch technology being utilised to achieve spectacular improvements in water quality. I have even been told that it is possible to recycle waste water for the irrigation of farmland.
- During my visit to this wonderful country, it is becoming increasingly clear to me that Romania is working at a great pace to bring the water infrastructure of the countryside up to standard. It is rewarding to see that Partners for Water can assist in these efforts.
- It is obvious that the co-operation between Romania and the Netherlands is bearing fruit. And I know that people from the Dutch water sector are anxious to continue this co-operation. They are ready to find innovative water solutions, together with Romanian partners; solutions like the one we will be seeing here today in Cobadin.
- I regard this project as a new milestone in the relations between Romania and the Netherlands in the field of water. I sincerely hope that it will prompt all those involved to join forces even more frequently in future.
