The WBG launched a free online course "Financing for Development: Billions to Trillions to Action", already available now. The course will highlight the need to adopt a more comprehensive view of Financing for Development that takes fully into account the crucial role of public and private
financing, both domestic and international, as well as the catalytic role played by Multilateral Development Banks as important financial intermediaries of the global development framework.
The course targets staff of the World Bank Group and Multilateral Development Banks as well as officials from the ministries of finance, foreign affairs end development, central banks, and regulatory agencies in addition to the representatives of the private sector, foundations, civil society
organizations, and academics, students and other experts interested in development issues.
This interactive four-week course--3 to 4 hours per week--includes terminology, key concepts, sources of development finance--public, private, domestic and international--and highlights the need for increased use of ODA and innovative financing solutions to mobilize and leverage domestic and
official development resources alongside private funds. Participants will hear from prominent government, international organization and private sector leaders and access core reading materials on the subject. They will also be able to join the "Billions to Trillions" conversation through
discussion boards, Google Hangouts, Twitter chats and other interactive features that encourage active learning.
This course presents a timely platform for participants to engage in the critical conversation on how the development partners can help mobilize and crowd-in the right mix of resources and reforms to finance the achievement of the SDGs. The time is now--working together through collective
