5,4 miljoen euro voor transnationale onderzoeksprojecten naar de ont..

Met 5,4 miljoen euro van de gezamenlijke call `Sustainable Urban Development' gaan zeven transnationale onderzoeksprojecten in 2015 van start. Het doel van deze projecten is om de samenwerking tussen onderzoekers uit Brazilie, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Nederland te versterken door
internationale samenwerkingsprojecten te financieren over thema's als duurzaamheid, sociale gelijkheid en bestuur en democratie.

Brazilie, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Nederland hebben ruime ervaring met onderzoek naar de ontwikkeling van duurzame steden. Dit actuele en belangrijke thema vraagt om een multidisciplinaire aanpak vanuit verschillende perspectieven en wetenschappelijke disciplines uit de sociale
wetenschappen. Door de samenwerking tussen excellente onderzoekers uit Brazilie, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Nederland zullen de projecten innovatief en transnationaal onderzoek stimuleren en een voorbeeld zijn voor internationale samenwerking op het terrein van duurzame steden. De resultaten
van het onderzoeksprogramma zullen bijdragen aan oplossingen voor de duurzame ontwikkeling van steden en stedelijke gebieden om onze samenlevingen veerkrachtig te maken voor huidige en toekomstige uitdagingen.

Het budget van 5,4 miljoen euro is gezamenlijk beschikbaar gesteld door FAPESP (Brazilie), ESRC (Verenigd Koninkrijk) en NWO. De gezamenlijke call maakt deel uit van het NWO beleid om wetenschappelijke samenwerking met opkomende landen en onderzoek naar duurzaamheid te stimuleren.
