Selectie WK honkbal in Panama bekend
Bondscoach Brian Farley heeft de selectie bekendgemaakt voor het WK honkbal dat van 1 tot en met 15 oktober plaatsvindt in Panama. De groep bestaat uit 26 spelers. In Panama zal de selectie gereduceerd worden tot 24. In de voorlopige selectie zijn twee debutanten openomen: Jonathan Schoop en Xander Bogaerts. Beide spelers staan onder contract in de Verenigde Staten.

Voorafgaand aan het WK zal het Nederlands honkbalteam nog vier oefenwedstrijden spelen tegen Panama, Taiwan en Australie.
In Panama zullen 16 teams strijden om de wereldtitel. Nederland speelt in groep 1 met de VS, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Puerto Rico, Panama en Griekenland. Oranje opent het toernooi op zondag 2 oktober tegen Taiwan.
Regerend wereldkampioen in Panama is de Verenigde Staten. Nederland eindigde op het WK 2009 als zesde.
