Stay of proceedings in case Indian couple
Zwolle-Lelystad, 15 June 2010 â Today, the three-judge family section
of the District Court of Zwolle-Lelystad heard the case of an Indian
couple who had filed a request for a DNA test to establish that a boy
adopted by Dutch parents is their biological son. For further
background information about this case please refer to the press
release the court issued on 11 June 2010.
Behind closed doors
The case was heard behind closed doors, which is required by law in
family law cases. Therefore no further information is provided about
the substance of the case.
Point of view adoptive parents
The court has not pronounced a judgement, since the adoptive parents
were not present at the hearing. The court has therefore not been able
to personally hear their view and to personally ask them questions.
Since the court deems this necessary, it has decided to stay the
proceedings and to proceed with the hearing in the presence of the
adoptive parents in the shortest possible term.
No hearing date set
No date has been set yet for further hearing of the case.
