Red Hat introduceert opensourcecommunityproject voor JBoss Middleware migraties
Red Hat slaat met partners de handen ineen om de overstap van proprietary-oplossingen naar JBoss Enterprise Middleware sneller en makkelijker te maken
Amersfoort, 12 februari 2009 - Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), de toonaangevende leverancier van opensourceoplossingen kondigt vandaag, samen met zijn JBoss Solution Partners, de oprichting aan van een nieuw opensourcecommunityproject voor enterprise-class middlewaremigraties. De JBoss MASS (migration assistance) community zal zich richten op het ontwikkelen van migratietools en een migratie resource center om het gebruik van JBoss Enterprise Middleware te versnellen.
'De voordelen van open source middleware zijn voor enterprise IT makkelijk vast te stellen, vooral als naar de kosten en de kwaliteit wordt gekeken', zegt Rich Sharples, Product Management Director bij Red Hat en JBoss MASS-projectleider. 'Het JBoss MASS-project verschaft migratietools en resources waarmee ondernemingen makkelijker kunnen overstappen en profiteren van de voordelen van JBoss Enterprise Middleware. Door onze partners te betrekken in deze op de community gerichte inspanning hebben klanten onmiddellijk toegang tot een grandioze hoeveelheid ervaring en kennis van JBoss-migraties.'
Talrijke JBoss solution providers vullen Red Hat partners aan, waaronder: Amentra (een Red Hat-bedrijf ), CityTech, Consilium1, Exadel, Freedom OSS, RivetLogic, Unisys en Vizuri.
'Het vermogen van opensourceoplossingen zoals JBoss Enterprise Middleware om kosten voor klanten te verminderen, is gezien de huidige economische situatie belangrijker dan ooit', zegt Scott Sanchez, Chief Architect van de open source practice bij Unisys Corporation. 'Wij kijken ernaar uit samen te werken met de JBoss-community zodat we onze klanten kunnen helpen om voordelen op de lange termijn te behalen.'
Het einddoel van de community is het voor klanten makkelijk te maken om van proprietary middleware deployments over te stappen naar JBoss Enterprise Middleware. Hiertoe verschaft het project enterprise IT en JBoss solution providers alle benodigde middelen en informatie om over te stappen naar JBoss. JBoss MASS zal zich in eerste instantie richten op applicatieservermigratie maar zal dit uiteindelijk uitbreiden naar middleware technologieën zoals portals, SOA en webservices.
De JBoss MASS community richt zich op het leveren van:
- Migratievoorzieningen voor JBoss Enterprise Middleware technologieën, met als eerste tools om over te stappen van proprietary applicatieservers naar JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.
- Een community om nieuwe JBoss-klanten te binden met bestaande klanten en partners die uitgebreide ervaring hebben met migraties.
- Best practices en een kenniscentrum voor het migreren naar JBoss Enterprise Middleware.
