Siemens kiest Open Text voor project bij BBC
Hoofddorp, 21 april 2008 - Open Text(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), de grootste onafhankelijke leverancier van Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software en oplossingen, maakt bekend dat haar Artesia Digital Media Group is gekozen door Siemens IT Solutions and Services als belangrijke technologiecomponent van het Digital Media Initiative (DMI) dat Siemens uitvoert bij de Engelse omroeporganisatie BBC. Artesia zal met Siemens een partnership aangaan om deze technologie en specifieke knowhow beschikbaar te maken voor andere omroepbedrijven die een soortgelijke technische uitdaging willen aangaan.
Siemens IT Solutions and Services ontwikkelt in nauwe samenwerking met de BBC een oplossing voor DMI en is verantwoordelijk voor de leverancierselectie. Als system integrator van het project begeleidt Siemens de servicegeoriënteerde integratie van alle componenten om tot een oplossing te komen die geheel voldoet aan de wensen en behoeften van de BBC.
Artesia's bijdrage in de ondersteuning van Siemens is zowel qua omvang als qua bereik erg groot en richt zich op het beheer van de video-, audio-, beeld- en gerelateerde informatie over acteurs, scenarioschrijvers, producers, titel- en aanverwante rechten. De Artesia Digital Asset Management (DAM) oplossing draagt bij aan essentiële functionele elementen van het initiatief, waaronder:
* De implementatie van een uitgebreid metadata model met mogelijkheden om te catalogiseren
* Het voorzien in uitgebreide zoekmogelijkheden, zodat gebruikers het archief kunnen doorzoeken om media opnieuw te gebruiken en het materiaal vanaf de eigen desktop te kunnen bekijken
* Het voorzien in opslagbeheer, zodat gebruikers kunnen zoeken in zowel traditionele fysieke (tape) als digitale media
* De integratie van een aantal subsystemen met het archief via een messaging en orchestration technologie

DMI is een pan-BBC project dat streeft naar een on-demand, multi-platform, digitale omgeving voor de organisatie. Het vormt een herbruikbaar platform voor het kosteneffectief leveren van nieuwe en toekomstige publiekgerichte diensten. De oplossing ondersteunt alles wat gecreëerd of uitgezonden wordt door de BBC via elk medium,inclusief internet, breedband, analoge of digitale televisie of mobiele telefonie. Alle content wordt opgenomen, gemonteerd, definitief gemaakt en gearchiveerd met behulp van file-gebaseerde systemen en vervolgens beschikbaar gemaakt aan operators op hun desktop PC.
