Women Environmental Ministers Join Grassroots Women Leaders in Support of a Women's Agenda for the Right to a Healthy Environment
at UNECE "Environment for Europe" Conference in Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrado, SERBIA:
Tijdens haar bezoek op 10 en 11 oktober j.l. aan de Europese Milieu Ministers Conferentie in Belgrado heeft de minister haar collega's uit de Oost- en West-europese regio, de Caucasus en Centraal Azië toegesproken over het belang van educatie voor duurzame ontwikkeling. Tevens benadrukte ze de noodzaak van de ontwikkeling van duidelijke criteria voor biobrandstoffen, in een van haar toespraken. De minister bezocht tijdens haar bezoek ondermeer de exposities van de Nederlandse organisaties Milieukontakt International en Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF). Zij toonde groot enthousiasme voor de activiteiten van WECF, met partner-organisaties in 30 landen in de regio, op het gebied van duurzame plattelandsontwikkeling, verbetering van drinkwaterkwaliteit, en duurzame energie. Het werk van de Europese vrouwen- en milieuorganisaties aan het recht op een gezond leefmilieu, had haar bijzondere belangstelling.
