BLOOMBERG TV Exclusive With Russia's Ivanov Airs This Weekend

NEW YORK, July 20 /PRNewswire/ --
- The man who could be the next Russian President tells Bloomberg:
Planned U.S. Missile System is "a new Berlin Wall."
The dispute over a planned U.S. missile system that would include
installations in Eastern Europe has plunged Russian relations with the United
States and the European Union to lows not seen since the end of the Cold War.
BLOOMBERG TELEVISION(R) explores this issue and more in an exclusive
interview with the leading contender to be Russia's next President, First
Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, to air this weekend on Bloomberg's "For
the Record."
In the taped session, Ivanov tells Ellen Pinchuk of Bloomberg's Moscow
bureau that Russia will aim missiles at sites in Poland and the Czech
Republic where the U.S. plans to deploy an anti-missile system, if the
installation goes ahead. "Of course," Ivanov told Bloomberg when asked if
Russia would specifically target the Polish and Czech sites.
During the interview, which took place at the White House of Russia,
Ivanov said also, "In the event of the appearance of an anti-missile system,
which in our understanding is aimed against Russia and not against a mythical
Iranian and North Korean threat which doesn't exist today, of course we must
somehow react to this and take measures," calling the planned missile system
"a new Berlin Wall."
Bloomberg asks Ivanov about the search for a successor to President
Vladimir Putin, Ivanov's own presidential intentions, and other topics.
The full exclusive interview can be seen on BLOOMBERG TELEVISION this
weekend on "For the Record" across the UK, Middle East, and Eastern and
Western Europe. The program airs on Saturday, July 21st at 10:30 a.m. London
time with repeats throughout the weekend.
