Utrecht Beach decor spectaculaire theatervoorstelling
UTRECHT, 20050811 -- The Caravan Stage Company gaat de voorstelling 'Vanishing Currents' opvoeren op Utrecht Beach. het 27 meter lange schip Amara Zee vormt het toneel voor een zeer actuele en spectaculaire theatervoorstelling. De voorstelling laat zich het best omschrijven als een kruising tussen het gedachtengoed van cineast Micheal Moore en de visuele aspecten van Cirque du Soleil.Utrecht Beach, Parkhaven (ingang Van Zijstweg, naast jaarbeurshallen) van 18 t/m 21 Augustus 2005. Er zijn nog kaarten verkrijgbaar voor 19, 20 en 21 augustus. De voorstellingen beginnen om 21.00 uur en kost 2 euro pp. Parkeren kan bij de Jaarbeurs, uitrijkaarten zijn voor 2,50 euro verkrijgbaar bij de bar van Utrecht Beach.
The Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre has a 35 year history of bringing provocative, groundbreaking contemporary theatre to audiences in North America. The Three Year European Waters Tour will take the floating theater, the ship the AMARA ZEE and the new play, "Vanishing Currents" to many venues in The Netherlands and Belgium commenced in July, 2005. The following years will take the Caravan to England and Ireland in 2006 then to Germany and the Baltic countries in 2007.
Vanishing Currents examines the dreams and realities of Western immigration, exploring the intrigue and opportunity that attracts so many dreamers, each abandoning their ancestral homelands and loved ones, hazarding deprivation and starvation, risking death and incarceration, to seek the gold of the promised land. The Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre will be transformed into a container ship carrying a clandestine cargo of both materials and humans. The audience will experience an imagined journey with this surreal ship, departing from the shores of promise and sailing into the oceans of uncertainty, the waters of suspense and the waves of global intrigue. The play is told in English text plus poetry, song, dance and music. The show lasts 2 hours long.
