COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 2003--
First to Market: DAT 72 Technology Delivers Reliable Automation,
with Configurations Supporting up to 864GB
Certance LLC (www.certance.com), a world leader in innovative,
cost-effective data protection solutions for companies of all sizes,
today announced the immediate availability of the CDL432 autoloader,
the first autoloader employing Certance's market-leading DAT 72 format
tape drives. Designed for small and medium-sized businesses with
growing storage needs, the CDL432 helps them reliably protect their
data, providing them with high-end features such as unattended,
automated operation.
Certance's CDL432 autoloader, with its unique 5.25" form factor,
provides flexibility through multiple configurations. The 2U rackmount
model is a 12-cartridge configuration of up to 864 gigabytes (GBs) of
compressed data, providing twelve times as much scalable capacity as a
single DAT 72 drive, while rapidly transferring data at a sustained
rate of up to 50GB an hour. The CDL432 autoloader is also
backward-compatible with DDS-3 and DDS-4 media, enabling firms to
continue using older tapes and leverage their existing investment.
Today's announcement completes Certance's DAT 72 product family,
offering the broadest, most cost-effective data protection solutions
for small-to-medium size businesses.
"Smaller businesses increasingly have larger data protection
requirements, with minimal IT resources," said Mike Lakowicz,
Certance's vice president, product strategy and business development.
"The CDL432 autoloader was built with those needs in mind, and
delivers a powerful solution more traditionally found only at
enterprise-level firms."
The CDL432 autoloader is also designed to provide exceptional
reliability to users, incorporating unprecedented features such as
Certance's exclusive TapeShield(TM), which reduces airborne and media
contaminants, improving data integrity and enhancing the life of the
drive and media, and SmartShield(TM), which ensures that data is
recoverable from difficult-to-read media.
"Certance continues to bring high-value solutions to its target
markets," said Bob Abraham, president of Freeman Reports. "Small
businesses will welcome the cost effectiveness and the rich feature
set offered by the CDL432 autoloader."
Certance's CDL432 autoloader is available in internal, desktop or
2U rack-mount configurations, with pricing beginning at $1,999. They
are available through the company's worldwide network of channel
partners and systems integrators, as well as through Certance's online
store at http://shop.certance.com.
