Europay International kiest Borland als Java® ontwikkelstandaard

~ Europay International selecteert Borland® JBuilder® en JDataStore® voor de ontwikkeling van Java Applicaties ~

26 Maart 2002 - Borland kondigde aan dat Europay International, Europa s grootste betaalorganisatie, Borland® s technologie heeft geselecteerd als strategische ontwikkelomgeving voor haar toekomstige, op Java gebaseerde, applicaties. Europay International biedt de meer dan 9.000 banken die bij haar organisatie zijn aangesloten Europese en wereldwijde debit- en credit card-diensten en -ondersteuning. Momenteel heeft Europay 291,1 miljoen betaalkaarten in omloop, waaronder alle EuroCards® en MasterCards®. Deze cards kunnen ook gebruikt worden om geld op te nemen bij Europa s grootste netwerk van meer dan 305.500 geldautomaten.

Europay International gaat bedrijfskritische, op Java gebaseerde, oplossingen ontwikkelen voor zowel de leden van haar organisatie als voor eigen intern gebruik. Daarvoor gebruikt zij Borland® JBuilder®, de toonaangevende cross-platform omgeving voor het bouwen van bedrijfs-, database-, en gedistribueerde applicaties voor het Java® 2 platform en Borland® JDataStore®; een object relationele database managementsysteem dat helemaal in Java is geschreven. Europay International heeft ervoor gekozen om haar oplossingen helemaal in Java en op het Java 2 platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE® platform) te bouwen om draagbaarheid en schaalbaarheid te garanderen.

"In onze business moet je erg flexibel zijn; in de financiële industrie kunnen zaken van het ene op het andere moment drastisch veranderen. We moeten snel kunnen inspelen op veranderingen," zei Peter Vandenbroucke, Head of Regional Systems bij Europay International. "We kozen Borland voor al onze huidige en toekomstige ontwikkeling vanwege haar duidelijke ondersteuning van open standaarden en haar geweldige reputatie op het gebied van ontwikkeltechnologie."

JDataStore kan functioneren als server of embedded worden in "client-side" of remote applicaties en levert topprestaties vrijwel zonder administratie. JDataStore is een complete, rendabele en effectieve oplossing voor Java platformen zoals: mobile computing, Internet applicaties, Web servers en Enterprise JavaBeans® (EJB) servers.
