SUN MICROSYSTEMS COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF LSC, INCORPORATED
PALO ALTO, Calif., -- May 3, 2001 -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW) announced today that it completed the acquisition of LSC, Incorporated. LSC, based in Eagan, Minn., is recognized as a pioneer in high-performance file systems and data storage software. The acquisition extends Sun's existing storage software product line and is a key component in Sun's strategy to deliver easily managed, open storage networks.
Sun acquired LSC in a stock-for-stock transaction that was completed on May 2, 2001. With the close of the acquisition, LSC becomes part of Sun's Network Storage organization, led by executive vice president Mark Canepa.
The LSC acquisition, combined with the recent HighGround Systems acquisition, reinforces Sun's position as a leader in open storage management software. Sun's
investment in this area includes strategic technology advancements, key acquisitions and the development of more than one million lines of code.
