Statement on the recent missile attacks against Saudi-Arabia
The Netherlands strongly condemns the Houthi missile attacks, which have taken place last Sunday (March 25th) towards several cities in Saudi Arabia. They amounted to indiscriminate attacks on civilians.These missile attacks on Saudi Arabia should stop, because they are aggravating the conflict and pose a wider threat to regional security. They are also threatening to undermine the efforts of the new Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General.
The Netherlands remains very concerned with the continuing level of violence in Yemen that is devastating the lives of civilians. The Netherlands emphasizes that military escalation is not the solution. A return to a political dialogue is the only way to end the conflict and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis. We fully support the efforts of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General. We call upon all parties to comply with international humanitarian law.
